Senior Development Tester - Bespoke Online and Engine Technologies

Before I became a Game Designer on this project, I had the pleasure of working on it as a Senior Development Tester, gaining the knowledge and opportunities that come with having a senior role in the team. My duties were as follows:

  • Autonomously create and carry out comprehensive test plans for my features, and assist other testers in creating theirs

  • Create daily and weekly reports on the status of features and present them to key stakeholders and the team

  • Set up, run and monitor weekly playtests for the Direction group and Live teams, to ensure that any issues encountered are reported

  • Mentor Junior and Intermediate members of the team

  • Assist Team Leads in onboarding of new members to the team

  • Document Testing practises and key information on how to test features

  • Improve Development Tester practises

My role as a Senior Development Tester has been a great boon to my design career, as it helped me develop my soft skills, as well as give me opportunity to mentor and teach others. From my time as a tester, I have also gained a great wealth of experience in end user testing, which has been instrumental in my success of developing prototypes and designs as a Game Designer, allowing me to see issues and problem areas quickly, and understanding what issues are created or impacted by my designs
